Rural roads are backbone of agricultural economies, Kwara group commends N20 billion road project

A leading pro-democracy group, Kwara Must Change, has lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his proactive leadership in initiating the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrade of 209.77 kilometers of rural roads across the state, under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

The group stressed the importance of rural roads as the foundation of agricultural economies, emphasizing that the N20 billion project will greatly improve access to urban markets for farmers, thereby boosting food security and agricultural productivity.

According to Kwara Must Change, the initiative is a significant addition to the state government’s ongoing urban renewal efforts, especially in rural communities.

The group added that by committing over N4 billion in counterpart funds and now investing an additional N20 billion, Governor AbdulRazaq has demonstrated his dedication to transforming rural infrastructure and fostering long-term economic growth in Kwara.

The group also praised the establishment of agro-logistics centers at strategic locations, positioning Kwara as a key agricultural hub.

It further called on stakeholders, including contractors and local communities, to collaborate in ensuring the timely completion of the projects.

The State Coordinator of Kwara Must Change, Seko Jibril, stated that the governor’s investment in rural infrastructure would significantly uplift rural areas and improve the quality of life for residents.
