Road projects: Kwara govt urges contractors on excellent work
As part of Kwara state’s urban renewal efforts to enhance quality roads, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, while inspecting the ongoing road projects in Kwara South senatorial district, emphasised ensuring that all projects align with global standards and are delivered on time.
Accompanied by Engr. Ladi Yusuf, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr Olododo, urged contractors to stay committed to approved specifications, warning that any lapses in quality would not be tolerated.
He said, “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is dedicated to building a Kwara where everyone can thrive, which is why he is focused on opening up more roads to enhance prosperity. My duty is to ensure that Kwarans receive top-quality infrastructure.”
The Commissioner also commended the progress made so far and encouraged contractors to maintain pace and quality.
The inspection covered several key projects, including the 21KM Arandun-Esie-Oro Road Rehabilitation, 12KM Ajase-Ipo-Okeya Road, Ibrahim Taiwo-Popo-Road, Offa, and 8KM Sabaja – Oba Isin – Owa Onire, Road (Phase One).
Engr. Afolabi Ademola, the site engineer for the Sabaja—Oba Isin—Owa Onire project, expressed gratitude to the state for engaging an Indigenous contractor and assured the commissioner of strict adherence to safety, quality standards, and project timelines.
Residents of the beneficiary communities hailed the state government for road rehabilitation as a long-awaited relief from years of neglect that had hampered travel and economic activities in the area. They expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and pledged their unwavering support for his continued efforts to improve Kwara.
