Ramadan: ABS foundation to feed fasting muslims across seven states, FCT
The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation has announced plans to commence its annual Ramadan Iftar Feeding Programme across seven states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the last 10 days of the holy month.
The initiative is aimed at providing meals for Muslims observing the fast and supporting vulnerable members of the Muslim community across the country.
According to a statement issued by the Foundation, the programme will be implemented in Niger State, Sokoto State, Bauchi State, Borno State, Kaduna State, Plateau State, and the Federal Capital Territory, where meals will be distributed daily in two mosques per state.
The Foundation disclosed that about 100 fasting Muslims are expected to benefit from the feeding programme in each mosque daily.
In Kwara State, where the Foundation maintains its widest outreach, the Ramadan feeding initiative will be conducted in 52 mosques across the state, providing meals for thousands of fasting Muslims during the period.
Speaking ahead of the rollout, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Audu Idowu Musa, said the holy month presents an opportunity for individuals and organisations to support vulnerable members of society and strengthen community bonds.
He noted that with the current economic challenges facing many households, providing even a simple meal has become increasingly difficult for many families.
“At a time when the economic strain on many households has become increasingly evident, even providing a simple meal has grown more difficult than ever before, and the burden is felt most deeply by the vulnerable within our communities,” he said.
Musa added that the Ramadan feeding programme reflects the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian support, education, healthcare, and community development.
The Foundation further revealed that volunteers and community leaders in participating states have begun coordinating logistics with mosque committees to ensure a smooth distribution process once the programme begins during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
It also called on Nigerians to use the Ramadan period to pray for peace, unity, and progress for the nation.
