Ramadan: AbdulRazaq, Saliu Mustapha, Oyabambi greet Muslims
As Muslims around the world commence the 30-day Ramadan fast, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, All Progressive Congress chieftains, Saliu Mustapha and Otunba Adetunji Oyabambi, have sent their greetings and best wishes to Muslim faithful across the state.
In a message issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor described the period as a renewed opportunity for the faithful to seek God’s forgiveness and recommit to the ideals of Islam.
“I join the Muslim community, especially in Kwara State, to thank the Almighty Allaah for another opportunity to witness another Ramadan. It is another moment to show immense gratitude to the Almighty for His mercies just as it is a new window to get closer to our creator through increased good deeds that include but are not limited to alms-giving and going out of our ways to make life worth living for others in our own corners,” the Governor said in a statement.
“I specifically felicitate the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and the entire Muslim community while wishing them a spiritually rewarding Ramadan ahead. I urge Kwarans to continue to be one another’s brother’s keepers and to forgive one another’s missteps in exchange for Allaah’s forgiveness and mercies. I pray the Almighty Allaah to grant all of us the full blessings of the holy month and give us the grace to witness many more of it in the best state of faith in God, and in good health.”
For Saliu Mustapha, Ramadan is a symbolic month of Allah’s generosity. He described the period as a month in which Allah (shubuhanahu wata’ala) showers His blessings and mercy upon Muslims in full throttle, adding that Allah closes the doors of Hell and opens the doors of Paradise for Muslims.
In his article earlier sent to THE INFORMANT247 titled ‘The Many Colours of Charity This Ramadan’, he said charitable giving is as fundamental in Islam as is it in most other religions, adding that charity and compassion are timeless commandments of Allah to all human kinds.
Similarly, Otunba Oyabambi, in a statement he personally signed, said fasting is not just meant to abstain as prescribed by the almighty God, but an opportunity to strive for inner purification.
He urged Muslims to increase their love for humanity, acts of charity, kindness, and generosity.
He urged well-to-do Muslims to emulate the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by spending generously on the poor and the needy during this period.
