Qatar 2022: Nigeria vs Ghana’s clash gets new date
The date for Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana has been changed.
Recall that the two-legged final series of qualifiers was earlier scheduled for 23 and 27 of March, the date has now been changed to 25 and 29 of the same month.
This was contained in a statement released by Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) on Monday.
“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was on Monday notified by the Confederation of African Football that the FIFA World Cup play-off round between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana will now take place on new dates” the statements,
It noted that the first leg of the game will hold at Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana while the second leg will be staged at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria.
“The opening leg at the Cape Coast Stadium will now take place on Friday, 25th March, starting from 7.30pm Ghana time, which will be 8.30pm in Nigeria. It was earlier scheduled to be played on Thursday, 24th March”.
“As against the earlier date of Sunday, 27th March, the return match between both fierce rivals will now hold at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, 29th March, starting from 6pm Nigeria time.”
Nigeria have played against Ghana more than any other country in the world in football, with a total of 57 senior matches between both countries in 71 years. Ghana have won 19 of those clashes with Nigeria winning 16, and 19 of the games ended in draw.
