Popular Lagos Socialite E-Money arrested over alleged naira abuse

Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested popular Lagos socialite and businessman, Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, widely known as E-Money, for allegedly misusing Naira notes.

According to sources within the commission, E-Money was apprehended on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos for allegedly spraying United States dollars, an act said to violate the Foreign Exchange Act.

“On Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed US dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act,” a source disclosed.

He was taken into custody at his Omole residence, and preliminary investigations are currently underway, with plans to charge him in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Another anonymous source indicated that E-Money was being transported to Abuja for further questioning regarding the allegations.

As of now, the EFCC has not released an official statement concerning the incident.
