Police recover ten male dead bodies in Edo
The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday reported that its officers had recovered ten (10) male dead bodies whose ages range from 23 years to 25 years.
The dead bodies were recovered within a bush path by Ibillo- Lampese axis along the Lagos-Abuja Expressway.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chidi Nwabutor, made this revelation in a statement released on Wednesday.
The police spokesperson said that through a reliable intelligence report, the officers from Ibillo Divisional Headquarters of the Police Command in connection with the vigilance group and the hunters were able to recover the dead bodies on Tuesday around 1100hours.
He added that the team of police officers discovered the ten (10) male dead bodies with the ages ranging from 23 and 25 years.
“During preliminary investigation, photographs of the dead bodies were taken.
“Also, the bodies were thoroughly searched and examined but there was no noticeable mark of violence or materials that could have led to identifying where they were from.
“Investigation was also extended to the Fulani/Hausa Communities and the indigenous communities who came, examined corpses and declared that the dead bodies were not members of their vigilance groups.
“The dead bodies had since been deposited at the Ibillo General Hospital Mortuary for preservation and forensic investigation,” Nwabutor said.
He revealed that CP Mohammed Dankwara, the state Commissioner of Police, had made an appeal to the people to make available out useful security information which may assist investigation into the causes of the young men’s death.
He also said that such information could assist the security agencies to arrest any suspect.
