Police arrest four suspects for trying to forcefully erect campaign poster in Ilorin
The Kwara State Police command has arrested four persons for offense ranging from criminal conspiracy, causing hurt and disturbance of public and mischief.
According to a statement released by the Police Public relation officer, Kwara State command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi on Monday, the suspects, Lukman Giwa,Elesinla Nabeel, Munirudeen Olosasa and Abdulrasheed Olosasa were arrested on Sunday December 3rd at Abdulrasaq Olosasa compound, Ode Alausa Ilorin.
“It was reported at the C Division, Oja Oba Ilorin by Alhaji Abdulrasaq Olosasa that at about 1600hrs, miscreants in their numbers brandishing dangerous weapons, in an attempt to forcefully erect a bill-board of an opposing political party in the same spot his own political party’s bill-board has for years being erected, met a stiff opposition by his party members present, this resulted into a free-for-all after his own party bill-boards were destroyed leaving many people injured in the process.” the statement reads apart.
It noted that the situation was curtailed by police timely intervention who also rescued injured victims at the scene.
“Police timely intervention eventually restored normalcy, the suspects were arrested at the scene of the crisis, pictures of destroyed bill-boards were taken while the injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment have been discharged”.
While the statement added that the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, CP Paul Odama psc(+) has directed that the suspects arrested be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded, he reitrated the commitment of the command to keeping up with its mandate.
“The CP also reiterated that the Command under his watch would not fold his arms while some unscrupulous elements attempt to jeopardize the jealously guarded peace currently existing in Kwara State,” it concluded.
