Participate actively in voter registration, Adeleke urges Osun residents ahead of 2026 guber polls

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on indigenes and residents to actively participate in the Continuous Voter Registration ahead of the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 8, 2026. His appeal was made through a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) nationwide on Monday, and Adeleke emphasized the importance of this civic duty. He urged all eligible voters in the state to ensure they are properly registered, stating, “The 2026 governorship election is pivotal to the sustainable delivery of good governance in the state; hence, voters who may have lost or misplaced their cards should go and get new ones.”

Highlighting the significance of voter participation, he remarked, “We all must exercise our voting rights to sustain a listening and responsive administration in the state.” He called for mass engagement from residents, including those living outside the state, to transfer their voting cards back to Osun for increased participation in the election.

“Our voting card is our weapon to prove that good governance is a possibility, as Osun has been experiencing in the last two and a half years,” Adeleke stressed. He also urged voters to not only update their registration details but to also ensure they vote and protect their votes when the time comes. “We must be getting ready to stop electoral robbers if they ever attempt to thwart the electoral will of the people,” he concluded.

The governor called on state officials and local government leaders to mobilize eligible voters for the registration exercise and expressed optimism regarding the electoral commission’s ability to conduct a seamless operation.
