Opinion- BUKOLA SARAKI NOT A BARRIER TO ANY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FROM KWARA NORTH
![]() |
Senate President Bukola Saraki |
-COM. BUHARI ABUBAKAR SADDIQ
Kwara north is comprised of five good local governments full of elites and egalitarian personalities with pedagogical and intimidating track records which are inspiring enough to be trusted and given mantle of leadership of our noble state comes 2019.
A candidate from kwara north will be good and capable as well as palpable of emerging victorious and deliver unprecedented dividends of democracy to generality of Kwara State people, if it does not end with exchange of carrots for a pot of porridge; if it doesnt end with kwara north expecting one person or group of persons to come and endorse someone for them, if it goes beyond the inclination to receive cash and car gifts by some set of indigenes to sell the opportunities of their people to the people at the corridors of power.
This simply means, if the candidate moves to sensitise the youth’s sensibilities to civic responsibilities and to inculcate in them a new sense of values, vastly different from those of the past generation of adults who see nothing wrong in receiving gifts in exchange for the wellbeing of the people and manipulate votes against the interest of their immediate constituency (Kwara North) and the state by extension.
It is noteworthy to know that in the realm of Nigerian Politics today, there is no phrase or word has been so abused as the word “marginalisation,” especially as it is a concern of some groups of people, ethnic or tribes of the country. But why some who mouth it have substantial reason to do so,while others do so just for doing sake.
In Kwara state for example, politics of marginalization remains one of the key issues that has continued to signal a great challenge to peace and sustainable development of the state, especially since the beginning of the new political dispensation in the country from 1999.
If we can unanimously come together and put aside our political and tribal differences and come out to give support for one individual from the region and stop waiting for one particular person or group of people to come and bring out candidate for us because power is never given anywhere in the world but taken by the competent if only the candidate can touch the few areas listed below that has greater impact on our people because no government administration can do it all.
ALARMING ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED
Declaration of state of emergency on infrastructural development such as Road, School, Low cost estate, hospital etc
Promptly payment of LOCAL GOVERNMENTS/SUBEB SALARY and civil servants at large
Development of our historic places to become a world tourist centers which will further generate revenue for our dear state such as Owu water fall, Esie museum etc
Aside prompt payment of civil service in the state, there is also a need to review the state salary salary scheme for example 33,000naira for graduates is so ridiculous.
There is also need to revisit Need to revisit kwara state university and kwara poly tuition fee in other to make education available and affordable for generality of households in the
On a final note, If the people from the region can not come together to present a credible candidate that is intellectually fit and sagaciously capable to fix these innumerable challenges, then the blame shouldn’t go anybody but themselves.
However, I urge the generality of Kwarans irrespective of the senatorial district to be objective enough in the power rotation of the state. It will be amount to highest level of injustice if the rotation goes elsewhere aside Kwara North. The fact that the district may be looked minority today but no one knows what will happen tomorrow. It will amount to a serious disservice to our noble state if we creat a political scene of imbalance, unjust as well as unfair that will create a serious political havoc among them in the nearest future.
In a nutshell BUKOLA IS NOT THE PROBLEM BUT THE KWARA PEOPLE THEMSELVES
God bless Kwara North
God bless Kwara State
God bless Nigeria
