Only Buhari can ask me to step down – Yahaya Bello
Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has made a claim that only President Muhammadu Buhari can order him to withdraw his presidential ambition.
The Informant247 had reported that the party’s governors from the North had recommended that the presidential power be shifted to the Southern part of Nigeria in 2023.
The APC presidential aspirant made this opinion on Tuesday while addressing newsmen at the State House, shortly after his meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said his colleagues (APC northern governors) did not consult him before taking the decision and that the decision was not enforceable on him.
He therefore reaffirmed his opposition to the shifting of presidency to the south, saying that it may deny a competent candidate the presidential ticket of the party, or chance to become the next president.
Bello, said he was the leading candidate of the party, and that the northern governors and some elite have decided to gang up against him.
He said that any attempt to exclude him from the ballot or disenfranchise him by any means will trigger bigger trouble for the party, and that, as the leading aspirant, he would be victorious in a fair and transparent process.
Bello said his visit to the president was to clear the air on his actions.
