One killed, several kidnapped as suspected Bandit attack Kwara community
Fear and frustration have taken hold of the Bokungi community near Gbale in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, following a bandit attack that left one local vigilante dead and several residents abducted.
The attack occurred on the evening of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, when heavily armed bandits invaded the village, opening fire and creating panic among residents. In the process, a brave member of the community vigilante group was killed while trying to defend the people.
Multiple residents were kidnapped by the attackers, though the exact number remains unconfirmed as of the time of this report. Families have been thrown into anxiety and mourning, as the community grapples with the aftermath of the deadly attack.
This fresh attack is coming less than 24 hours to a similar one which occurred in Lile village in Patigi local government area of Kwara State where a PDP Chietain and his son were gruesomely murdered by suspected bandits.
Some parts of Kwara State, largely the northern and southern parts have continued to experienced wave of attacks that has left many dead and several others kidnapped.
