One killed as rival cult groups clash at Oja-Oba market in Ilorin
A middle-aged man was reportedly killed on Friday following a clash between suspected rival cult groups at Oja-Oba Market in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that officers evacuated the victim’s body from the scene using a Hilux patrol vehicle.
The violent confrontation caused panic across the busy market area, forcing motorists and pedestrians to avoid major routes including Emir Road, Ita-Ajia and the Gambari axis.
Traders hurriedly shut their stalls and fled to safer locations as the clash escalated.
Security personnel stationed within the market swiftly responded to the situation and pursued several suspects believed to be involved in the attack.
