Ogun Gov Abiodun appointed chairman southern governors’ forum
Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Governor on Monday, was elected as the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, while Prof Charles Soludo of Anambra was elected as Vice Chairman.
The Informant247 gathered that the decision was decision after a meeting held at the Presidential Lodge, Ibara housing, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where all the sixteen southern governors attended the meeting.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Chairman of Southwest Governors’ Forum announced Abiodun’s emergence after a closed-door meeting which lasted for about five hours.
Other Governors who have arrived are Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Alex Otti (Abia), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Charles Soludo (Anambra) and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Douye Diri (Bayelsa).
Also on the ground are Deputy Governors, Chinyere Ekomaru (Imo) and, Monday Onyeme (Delta), Olayide Adelami (Ondo).
Abiodun replaced the late Rotimi Akeredolu, former Governor of Ondo State, who was the forum’s chairman until his demise.
The forum has not elected a new chairman after Akeredolu’s death in December 2023.
