Obasanjo punished me when I was Lagos Gov, he’s unfit to endorse candidate — Tinubu

The presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu on Thursday criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for punishing him when he was the Governor of Lagos State.

He said the former president decided to punish him because he (Tinubu) was in opposition party.

Tinubu made reference to the Enron power project as he criticised the former Nigerian leader for making it difficult for him to resolve electricity issues when he was serving as the governor of Lagos State.

He has alleged the former general of embezzling the money that was set aside to resolve electricity crisis in the country.

The APC chieftain made this revelation at the presidential campaign rally of the party which took place in Benin, Edo State.

He said: “I brought Enron to solve electricity problem and help Lagos economy but Obasanjo and PDP frustrated it. They punished me and Lagos people and even began deducting our money. I created Local Governments in Lagos to accelerate development and create employment for our people but Obasanjo siezed our allocation and punished us for that. That was wickedness and such a man said he endorsed a man for you to vote as President. Can you follow such a man? Can Obasanjo recommend a leader for anyone in Nigeria? A man who does not know the way cannot show the way.”

“They punished me as Lagos State governor, not personal punish (sic) but the entire Lagos State was punished.”

Tinubu has however described the former Nigerian leader as unfit to recommend any candidate for the people.
