NUC approves 13 new programs for KWASU
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, to introduce 13 new undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
This approval was conveyed in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC.
Of the newly approved programs, two are undergraduate degrees: B.HIM Health Information Management and B.Sc. Development Studies. The remaining eleven are postgraduate programs, which include LL.M and Ph.D. in Common Law, LL.M. and Ph.D. in Islamic Law, M.LIS and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science, Ph.D. in Human Kinetics, Ph.D. in Special Education, M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science, Masters in Public Sector Accounting, and Masters in Development Finance.
The letter specified that these programs are to be offered in full-time mode and will commence from the 2024/2025 academic session.
Reacting to the NUC’s approval, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed his excitement about the new programs.
He commended the state government for its support in achieving this milestone and appreciated the dedication of the university staff in preparing to deliver these new courses, contributing further to human capital development.
