NPFL: Support Kwara United from home, Oniye urges fans

As the Nigerian Professional Football league enters the fourth week, the Chairman of Kwara United fans club, Oluwatoyin Oniye has urged the teeming fans of the Afonja warriors to stay at home and pray for the team.

Oniye disclosed this on Tuesday during a news briefing in Ilorin, the state capital.

Kwara United will take on their counterpart from Akwa-Ibom on Wednesday after the team had a not to hood outing in Port Harcourt last weekend where they were thrashed by three goals to nil.

“We don’t want any spectator to watch the match following Presidential Task Force and LMC directives on COVID19 protocols and also for security reasons.

“If we fail to adhere to this, LMC may sanction Kwara United with either a ban from Ilorin or fine us.

“I want to use this medium to plead with our ever reliable SWAN members to continue their excellent records of good stories and write ups” Oniye said.

Oniye also played down the confidence of Akwa United FC’s coach Kenedy Boboye, that the Akwa based team are coming to Ilorin to secure the maximum points.

Oniye insisted that the game of football is played on the pitch and can only be won after 90 minutes, as he expressed his optimism on the qualities the Harmony boys possessed.
