NPFL new season gets underway on Saturday
The 2023/2024 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will kick off tomorrow, Saturday across all the designated match centers.
After several postponement, the league is now taking center stage amid great expectations from football fans and supporters across the country.
As usual, a total number of 20 teams will be fighting for the glory when action begins tommorow.
The new season will take a straight league format as against last’s edition abridged format.
Current champions, Enyimba will not be in action as their opponent, Bendel Insurance will be doing battle far away in Morocco against RS Berkane in the CAF confederation cup on Friday night.
Also Rivers United’s game against Remo Stars has been postponed due to the Pride of Rivers’ CAF confederation second preliminary game against Et Filante billed for Sunday.
While the trio of Kano Pillars, Heartland FC and Katsina United are making return to the elite league after relegation, Sporting Lagos are making their first debut in the elite league less than three years after it was formed. The Lagos based team will face Gombe United on Monday at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
