November salary: Resolve your issues with KWSRRA – Kwara govt tells workers

The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Finance, has directed the state workers who are yet to receive their November salary to visit the Kwara State Resident Registration Agency (KWSRRA) to resolve the issues.

The Informant247 reports that the state government had persistently warned that workers who fail to comply with the directive of registering with KWSRRA would not receive their November salary.

However, the State Ministry of Finance, while reacting to the delay of state workers’ salary, said many of the workers have received their November salary, with others still being credited, except for those who are yet to complete their registration with KWSRRA as earlier instructed.

The Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru, in a statement on Monday, Dec. 2, urged state workers who have not received their payment to visit the nearest KWSRRA office to resolve any pending issues.

She said, “The state government has since started disbursing the salary for the month of November, and many workers have received across MDAs. The bonus will follow shortly after like before.”

“Being the first since KWSRRA registration was implemented, the disbursement is done in batches as the government carefully inputs updated data and biometrics of each worker to the payroll. This exercise is to encourage data-driven planning and resource allocation, strengthen the integrity of the payroll, deepen efficiency and public accountability, and promote public safety.

“State workers who do not see theirs may need to visit the nearest KWSRRA offices for registration. This is in the interest of everyone.”

The statement also said that local government workers and SUBEB teachers are already being paid in like manner after KWSRRA clearance.

“The directive requiring all state employees, including those in the 16 local government areas, to register with the KWSRRA is a strategic step toward improving accountability and service delivery. This registration has been open for over six months, allowing sufficient time for compliance.”

The statement added that the state government remains committed to the culture of prompt payment of salary, which it is known for.

Back story

The Kwara State Government, on November 11, 2024, announced that public sector employees without a valid Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) number will not receive their November 2024 salary or bonuses.

This decision follows months of ongoing efforts to ensure that every worker completes their KWSRRA registration.

KWSRRA, established by law, is responsible for collecting data on all residents in Kwara State and issuing unique identification numbers to each person.

This system, according to the Kwara State government is designed to improve planning, resource management, public service delivery, and security across the state.

Meanwhile, on November 12, a 2-day mop-up registration was scheduled for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Education Authority(LGEA) staff and other civil servants who failed to partake in the last residents registration organised by the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency.
