November salary: Kwara NULGE directs members to register with KWASRRA

The Kwara state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has directed all its members across the 17 local government areas of the state to register with the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA) with immediate effect.

In a statement signed by its secretary Comrade Terry Henry Isaac, NULGE said the decision was in line with the statement credited to the Local Government Service Commission, urging all the staff of the 16 Local Government Areas in the state to get registered with KWASRRA.

According to Henry Isaac, NULGE is already in talks with the Local Government Service Commission to seek a repeat of the registration exercise as a cover-up for those who are yet to do so.

“Any erring staff will not in any way get the backing of the State NULGE in the event of any sanction. He therefore advised those yet to be registered to earnestly do it in their interest, the statement said.

NULGE, however, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his special interest and support to the Local Government Workers, adding that it would remain supportive and reciprocate the good gestures of the State Government.

Back story

The Kwara State Government, on November 11, 2024, announced that public sector employees without a valid Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) number will not receive their November 2024 salary or bonuses.

This decision follows months of ongoing efforts to ensure that every worker completes their KWSRRA registration.

KWSRRA, established by law, is responsible for collecting data on all residents in Kwara State and issuing unique identification numbers to each person.

This system, according to the Kwara State government is designed to improve planning, resource management, public service delivery, and security across the state.

Meanwhile, on November 12, a 2-day mop-up registration was scheduled for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Education Authority(LGEA) staff and other civil servants who failed to partake in the last residents registration organised by the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Ag. General Manager, Kwara State Residents Registration Agency, Mr Tajudeen Jimoh, during the registration for the Kwara State Political Holders at the conference room of Ministry of Finance, Ilorin, the mop-up exercise is slated for civil servants who missed the one-month registration between 29th July 2024 – 4th September 2024 at the Banquet hall due to specific reasons.

He said the Agency has just concluded the local residents’ registration in which all the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State were visited to register Local Government staff and farmers, adding that the  Kwara State House of Assembly members are scheduled to hold tomorrow, 12th November 2024 at the Kwara State House of Assembly,  Asa Dam, Ilorin.

The mop-up registration was scheduled for Wednesday, 13th November 2024, and Monday, 18th November 2024, at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.
