‘Not sentiment, but competence’ — Igbomina youth vanguard rallies behind Bashir Bolarinwa
The Igbomina Youth Vanguard has rallied behind Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, PhD, describing him as a competent and stabilising figure capable of providing inclusive leadership for Kwara State, amid growing calls for experience-driven governance.
In a statement obtained by The Informant247, the youth group said its support is not driven by personal loyalty or political sentiment but by a deliberate assessment of leadership capacity, temperament, and track record.
According to the group, Kwara State is approaching a critical phase where competence must outweigh political noise, and where unity, institutional stability, and continuity of development should guide leadership choices.
The Vanguard noted that Bolarinwa’s political journey reflects a consistent effort at bridge-building across the three senatorial districts of the state, stressing that his approach to politics has been largely defined by consultation, restraint, and collaboration rather than confrontation.
“As young stakeholders in the future of this state, we are not driven by sentiment but by the desire for responsible leadership,” the statement read.
“Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa has demonstrated maturity, calm decision-making, and loyalty to the collective interest of Kwara State.”
The youth body further stated that beyond political contests, Bolarinwa represents stability and teamwork, qualities it said are essential for sustainable governance and inclusive development.
It added that true leadership is not measured by loud declarations or political theatrics, but by the ability to maintain unity even after elections and disagreements. The group commended Bolarinwa for prioritising cooperation over conflict and for contributing to governance through counsel and support when necessary.
The Igbomina Youth Vanguard clarified that its position should not be mistaken for an endorsement based on sentiment or narrow interest, but rather reflects a broader yearning among young people for leadership that values inclusion, economic growth, youth empowerment, and institutional continuity.
“Kwara’s progress requires leaders who understand both its history and its future. We believe Hon. Bolarinwa possesses the temperament and foresight required to guide the state responsibly,” the group added.
The group concluded by calling on political stakeholders and community leaders across the state to prioritise competence, character, and capacity as Kwara charts its next phase of development.
“We stand ready, as youths of Igbomina extraction and proud citizens of Kwara State, to support any credible course that guarantees unity, growth, and a stronger State of Harmony.”
The statement was signed by Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez Afobaje, Coordinator of the Igbomina Youth Vanguard, and endorsed by other members of the organisation, including Comrade Olorudipe Timileyin (Secretary, Irepodun LG), Sen. Abdulraheem Toheeb ‘Haqinson’ (PRO, Ifelodun LG), Abegunde Florence (Assistant Coordinator, Isin LG), Abbeb Aweda, Olatuji Olaoye, among others.
