NIS launches Contactless Passport app on Google Play Store to ease passport processing
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a Contactless Passport Application System app on the Google Play store as “NIS Mobile”.
The Service, while announcing this via its verified X handle on Sunday, said that the worldwide usage of the app would commence from December 1st.
They have earlier announced that the phased contactless passport renewal system will start from Canada on November 1 and be extended to the United States of America on November 15.
According to the statement, the system, which is designed to simplify and modernise the passport renewal process, would allow Nigerians to apply for passport renewals online, reducing the need for in-person visits to NIS offices.
The statement reads: “The Contactless Passport Application System app is now available on the Google Play store as “NIS Mobile”.
“Please remember that the worldwide usage will commence from December 1st.
“The current Geo-fencing feature means it’s only available for use by Nigerians in Canada and the USA.”
