2023 presidency: Kwankwaso meets with Wike 24 hours after Peter Obi’s visit
The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Friday, visited the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.
Although the agenda has not been made official, it may not be unconnected to the 2023 general elections.
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, was also present.
FG shares $322.5m Abacha loot to 1.9m Nigerians in 4 years: ANEEJ
The African Network for Economic and Environment Justice, ANEEJ, on Thursday, revealed that the $322.5million stolen funds from former Military Head of State Gen Sani Abacha between 2018-2022 has been shared to 1.9million poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
Before making the disbursement, the money accrued an interest of $11 million where it was deposited.

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has denied having a home in Wuse, Abuja, contrary to reports that his home was raided by the operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
Buratai in a statement signed by his Legal Advisor, OSUAGWU Ugochukwu ESQ, described the reports as smear and fabricated tale, published to tarnish his image.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed and accepted Bashir Sheriff Machina as the real candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Yobe Zone C Senatorial District.
The electoral commission has also disclosed that the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan is not the party’s candidate for the senatorial district.
Gunmen launch attack on Kogi police station, kill inspector
Some unknown gunmen on Friday launched an attack on the Okehi Police Area Command and killed an inspector who’s on duty.
The Informant247 gathered that the unknown gunmen were fully armed, and launched an attack on the police command at about 12:30 am on Friday.
The Informant247 also learnt that part of the police command office was set on fire by the attackers.

Tonto Dikeh, a Nollywood actress, has been picked as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) deputy governorship candidate, in the 2023 general election in Rivers State.
The Nigerian actress made this revelation via a post on her Instagram handle.
She appreciated the governorship candidate of her party, Tonte Ibraye, for choosing her.
Relatives of 51 Abuja-Kaduna train attack victims make fresh appeal
Families and relatives of the remaining 51 Abuja-Kaduna train attack victims, on Friday, persuaded the Federal Government to fasten the rescue of the victims.
The leaders of the abducted victims’ relatives, Dr. AbdulFatai Jimoh and Dr. Ba’aba Muhammad, have via a press statement publicized in Kaduna, disclosed that though they are appreciative for the release of 11 victims, there is need for the safe return of the remaining ones who have spent more than 90 days with bandits in the forest.

Bandits kill lecturer after collecting N5 million ransom in Zamfara
Mr. Sanusi Halilu Kaura, a lecturer at Abdu Gusau Polytechnic in Zamfara State, who doubled as the Students’ Affairs Officer of the institution, has been killed by his abductors.
He was killed after the payment of five million naira ransom for his freedom.
It was gathered that Kaura was killed after five weeks of his abduction.
Hoodlums interrupt collection of PVCs in Osun community
Some hoodlums have reportedly interrupted the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) by people in Ilesa West Local Government Area of Osun State, Thursday.
A source told newsmen that the hoodlums who were suspected to be political thugs invaded the affected area in their numbers to discontinue the collection of PVCs.
