Nine –time winners, Nigeria Super Falcons have been drawn to play South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, Botswana and Burundi in Group C of the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations from 2nd to 23rd July in Morocco.

This draw, which was made at Morroco on Friday saw 12 teams being grouped into three for the biggest football event for female in Africa.

Nigeria and South Africa faced off in the same group at the last edition of the competition in Ghana, with the Banyana winning by the odd goal.

While both teams again met in the final which ended scoreless after regulation and extra time, The Super Falcons eventually triumphed with 4-3 on penalties to win their 9th title.

Since then, South Africa had only gotten over the better side of the Nigerian team when they squared off in the final of the invitational Aisha Buhari Tournament played in Lagos.

While Host nation Morocco heads Group A that  has Burkina Faso, Senegal and Uganda, Aces will also be throwing out their all in Group C among Cameroon Zambia, Tunisia and Togo.

All the four semi finalists at the championship will represent Africa at the first –ever 32 –team FIFA Women’s World Cup finals, to be hosted by New Zealand and Australia in the summer of next year.

The first match will be played on Saturday, 02 July 2022 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex between hosts Morocco and Burkina Faso at 21h30 local time (21h30 GMT).
