Nigeria Police Force denies helicopter used for food delivery to bandits
The Nigeria Police Force has firmly refuted reports claiming that its helicopter was involved in delivering food items to armed bandits in Kogi State.
In an official statement released on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police clarified that a video circulating on social media actually depicted a “legitimate security operation” in the Obajana area of Kogi State.
According to the police, “The operation was conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2025, by a coalition of joint security forces, including police operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters.”
The police further explained that the helicopter was deployed as part of a comprehensive tactical mission aimed at addressing banditry and other violent crimes in the region.
“The deployment of the helicopter was crucial in providing aerial support and surveillance to ground forces involved in the tactical operation,” the statement read.
The Force emphasized its commitment to securing all areas of the country and condemned the dissemination of unverified information that could erode public trust.
They urged the public to dismiss the “unfounded and mischievous” claims regarding the viral video, recommending that citizens rely exclusively on official police communication channels for accurate and verified information about security activities.
The statement, however, reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to national security, ensuring Nigerians that it will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain safety across the nation.
