NDLEA uncovers cocaine hidden in Prayer beads, footwear in major drug bust

In a recent operation, operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted a shipment of cocaine that was cleverly concealed within prayer beads and locally made shoes. The discovery took place as the suspects were attempting to transport the drugs to the Holy Land, highlighting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking.

Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, shared images of the seized items on X.com, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the concealment methods. In a statement released, Babafemi remarked on the timing of the operation, noting that it occurred during a holy month when many people are engaged in prayer and reflection.

He stated, “Narco-trend update: In this holy month when people are consecrating themselves and making supplications to their God, some persons were preoccupied with concealing cocaine in prayer beads and locally made shoes to desecrate the precincts of the holy land in the holy month.” He concluded by commending the NDLEA personnel’s efforts to intercept illicit activity.

The agency continues to be vigilant in its fight against drug smuggling and trafficking, reminding the public of the importance of remaining aware of such activities that threaten community safety and sanctity.
