NDLEA, KWSDCC trains NOA staff on dealing with drug addicts

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Kwara State Drugs Control Committee have organised training for the National Orientation Agency (NOA) staff on how to deal with drug-addicted persons in society.

The training, which focused on War Against Drug Abuse was organized took place at the Federal Secretariat, along Fate Road, Ilorin.

The lead facilitator at the training who is also the Agency’s Deputy Commander, Narcotics, Mr. Friday Oluwi urged participants to always consider drug users as sick people who require urgent treatment to become normal so as to reduce the crime rate in the society.

“Drug users are sick persons, don’t criticize or stigmatize them, recommend them for counseling and rehabilitation if needed, which is the only solution to reduce drug addiction and crime rate in the society,” Oluwi said.

Earlier, the State Director of NOA, Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi had commended the NDLEA and the State Drugs Control Committee led by Pharmacist Barakat Olarewaju for their proactiveness in the strive to reduce drug abuse to the barest minimum in the State.
