NAFDAC partners Customs to tackle illicit products in Nigeria’s borders
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)with the Nigeria Customs Service, aimed at bolstering national security and public health by combating the influx of illicit pharmaceutical products and harmful substances.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that NAFDAC had signed NDLEA to enhance the operational synergy of both parties.
NAFDAC, via its official X handle, said the strategic partnership was formalised during the 2024 Comptroller-General of Customs Conference in Abuja.
Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, while highlighting the significance of the collaboration, expressed confidence that the agreement would mark a turning point in curbing the entry of dangerous products into Nigeria and protecting future generations.
Adeniyi also emphasised the importance of real-time intelligence sharing, which would foster the relationship between the two parties.
On her part, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye described the MoU as vital for ensuring the safety and quality of regulated products, which Nigerians rely on daily.
She underlined the threats posed by unregulated products to national security and pledged that this partnership would end such practices, benefiting the nation.
