More than 90 per cent of Kwara Assembly performs below average: Report
More than 90 per cent of members of the Kwara State House of Assembly scored below average, a leading Pro-Democracy group, Kwara Must Change, said.
The convener of the group, AbdulRazaq Hamzat stated this in Ilorin on Monday while presenting the second edition of the legislative watch assessment report.
The group said only one Federal House of Representative member, Hon Bio Omar from Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency scored above pass mark of 70%, while Hon. Ismaila Tijani and Hon. Tunji Ajulo-Opin came second and third respectively.
All three senators from Kwara state scored above pass mark of 70%. But, Senator Sadiq Umar from Kwara North came top with 84%. Kwara North lawmakers maintain top at the Senate, House of Reps and KWHA, the group added.
It furthered that the performances of the Federal House of Representative members improved, as more than 64% scored above average, compared to less than 20 per cent who scored above average in the first edition.
The group said, “All members of Kwara State House of Assembly fall below pass mark of 70%, as Rt Honorable Danladi remain top performer with 58% score.
“KWHA members, Hon Ojo Olayiwola from Oke-Ogun and Hon. Ali Jimoh from Ilorin East top performance in Kwara South and Kwara Central.
“KWHA members, Hon Ahmed Rufai from Patigi, Hon Opakunle from Afon Constituency and Hon. Musa Atoyebi from Odo-Ogun are least performer in Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South.
“House of Reps. member, Hon. Alajagusi remains the least performing lawmaker in Kwara State.”
The group added that the representative of Ilorin South at the state assembly was not assessed, due to insufficient data.
