Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich’s captain returns to training after lengthy recovery
In an exhilarating comeback, Bayern Munich’s captain, Manuel Neuer, returned to the training field, marking a significant milestone in his recovery journey following a leg injury sustained in a skiing accident almost a year ago.
Neuer, who expressed his immense joy at rejoining his teammates on the pitch, said, “It’s a great feeling to be back on the pitch with my teammates. I had been looking forward to that.”
The experienced goalkeeper participated in a goalkeeping session alongside Sven Ulreich and Daniel Peretz, Bayern’s other goalkeepers, as well as the outfield players.
The setback Neuer faced in his recovery had delayed his return, but Bayern Munich did not specify a definite timeline for his availability.
However, the club’s sporting director, Christopher Freund, stated earlier this week that it’s “only a matter of days” before Neuer can fully rejoin the team.
Manuel Neuer, a World Cup winner in 2014 and a key figure in Bayern Munich’s Champions League victories in 2013 and 2020, is aiming to regain his form and fitness to potentially represent Germany at the Euros next year.
The tournament holds particular significance as it will be hosted on German soil.
