Man seeks help after ‘Omo Onile’ demolish his property in Ibadan [VIDEO]

A man, Kunle Ojofeyitimi, has appealed for help after individuals known as “Omo Onile” reportedly demolished his property in Akoto, Elebu, Oluyole extension, Ibadan.

In Yoruba phrase, “Omo Onile” refers to people who claim ownership or authority over land, often asserting control or demanding payments from others on that land. This term generally applies to landowners or landlords with deep connections to an area.

Kunle, who lives in Elebu Akoto, Oluyole extension, says he used all his life savings to build his house on land he purchased over 39 years ago.

He explained that three months ago, individuals claiming to be “Omo Onile” appeared, alleging the land belonged to them and began to destroy his property.

Kunle, in a viral video, recounted that he originally bought the land from the Aregbe Omo family with the help of Alhaji Yekini Baale Alaro.

He described how the situation has escalated, saying, “I’ve invested my entire life savings into building this house, and I’ve lived in this area for over 39 years. Then, three months ago, these ‘Omo Onile’ came and claimed the land was theirs.”

Kunle returned from work recently to find significant damage to his property.

He now calls on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the citizens of Nigeria to intervene, fearing he may lose everything.

Kunle noted that he has deep roots in the area, having attended Government College, Ibadan, and recently returned to Nigeria after studying abroad.

The man further named members of the Akoto family — Kareem Akoto, Oluomo, Kehinde, and Taiye Agbada — whom he claims are behind the attempts to reclaim his land.

Kunle is appealing to the public and local authorities to help resolve the dispute and protect his property from further destruction.
