Man appears in court for allegedly belonging to a gang in Abuja

Seun Sossa, an unemployed man, on Wednesday appeared in an Abuja Court, for reportedly belonging to a group of thieves.

Seun whose address of residence was not disclosed has been charged by the police with being a member of a gang of thieves.

Olanrewaju Osho, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the issue was brought to the awareness of the Nyanya Police station by a group of Police operativel connected to Nyanya Division, Abuja.

Osho informed the court that a group of officers who were on patrol saw the defendant moving about in a suspicious manner.

He said the offence, was in contravention of the provisions of sections 306, 406 A and C of the Penal Code.

Malam Hassan Mohammed, who’s presiding over the matter granted the defendant a bail in the sum of N50, 000 plus one surety in like sum who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Mohammed directed that the address, valid means of National identification or driver’s licence belonging to the surety must be subjected to the verification of a court officer.

He has adjourned the matter until November. 11 for mention.
