LG chairman orders street to be named after female lawyer killed in Lagos

A street has been proposed to be named after Mrs. Bolanle Raheem, a lawyer who was allegedly shot and killed by a police officer in Lagos State on Christmas day.

It was gathered that the Chairman of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area, John Campos gave the order on Wednesday for a street to be named after the 41 year old slain legal practitioner lawyer.

The chairman of the local government council made this revelation during his visit to the family of the deceased legal practitioner, Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

The Informant247 recalls that the woman was gunned down by a police officer on Sunday.

The incident happened when the victim and her family were returning home from Christmas service.

The Informant247 also recalls that the Inspector General of Police, IGP, has frowned at the killing of Bolanle Raheem, by a police officer connected to the Ajiwe police station, Ajah, Lagos state.

The police chief has directed a speedy probe and prosecution of the police officer who was involved in the act.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State visited the residence of the victim situated at the Ajah axis of Lagos state, on Tuesday evening.

While commenting on the incident at the victim’s residence, the police boss in the state assured the family that justice will be done.

According to the CP: “This person who did this won’t go unpunished.”

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, has recommended that Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Drambi Vandi, who allegedly killed Lagos lawyer Mrs Bolanle Raheem on Christmas day in Lagos, be immediately suspended.

The police chief revealed that his immediate suspension would subsist pending receipt of a comprehensive information on the incident.

The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, declared its readiness to commence investigation into the killing of Barrister Bolanle Raheem, a female Lagos lawyer by a police officer in Lagos on Christmas day.

It was in this regard that the Green Chamber has passed a resolution to begin a probe into the circumstances which triggered the incident.

The House has vowed to make sure the police officers were prosecuted accordingly.
