Lagos Police warns residents ahead of March 11 governorship election
The Lagos State Police Command has warned those spreading fake information and ”provocative content” on social media to stop causing panic in the state, affirming that the police was ready to prosecute them.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, made this revelation.
The spokesperson said this as reaction to increasing level of propaganda and incitement of ethnic outbursts by users of social media ahead of the forthcoming March 11 governorship election.
“The command has begun investigating this scaremongering with a view to apprehending and prosecuting those found culpable.
“The good people and residents of the state are urged to disregard all forms of messages, especially on social media depicting fictitious, fallacious, and preposterous claims aimed at jeopardizing the peace currently being enjoyed in the state,” Hundeyin said.
