Lagos Assembly removes speaker Obasa, replaces him with Mojisola Meranda

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has been impeached by the members of the Lagos State House of Assembly over alleged abuse of office and gross misconduct.

However, the lawmakers have elected Mojisola Meranda, representative of Apapa I, as the new speaker.

Meanwhile, armed security personnel have taken over the assembly complex and environs.
