Third wave: Kwara records 29 COVID-19 cases in 3 days

Kwara’s COVID-19 infections exceed 1,000

The new COVID-19 cases reported by the Kwara state government, though minimal in recent days, has dragged the total number of infections in the state to over 1,000.

According to infographics released by the state Ministry of Health, of the 5540 tests done so far, 1009 cases have been confirmed, 799 recoveries, 184 active cases, 26 death and 21 pending as at 8:30pm, September 17.

The update came as the state government said it is still preparing for the reopening of schools.

The cases, according to the government, were found in the following 12 local councils – Ilorin South (445), Ilorin West (394), Ilorin East (98), Offa (25), Ifelodun (16), Asa (16), Edu (4), Oke-Ero (3), Irepodun (3), Moro (2), Oyun (2), Ekiti (1).

Ilorin South remains Kwara’s COVID-19 hotspot with over 445 cases.

Ilorin West, the most populous local council, is the second most impacted with a total of over 394 cases.
