Kwara Workers face non-payment of salary as govt insist on compulsory residents’ registration
Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA)has disclosed that the workers’ registration is compulsory for all staff across the 16 local government councils in the state.
Alhaji Umar Danladi Shero, the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission and Kwara State Local Government Pension Board, while disclosing this in a statement, said the exercise was not meant to witch hunt any officer but rather was intended to get accurate numbers and ensure they provide any other necessary information for adequate policy formation.
The Informant247 reports that a 2-day mop-up registration was scheduled for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Education Authority(LGEA) staff and other civil servants who failed to partake in the last residents registration organised by the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency.
This follows the state government’s announcement that public sector employees without a valid Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) number will not receive their November 2024 salary or bonuses.
However, the Chairman, while emphasising the importance of the registration, said all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free registration exercise having earlier sent a circular to all the 16 councils.
He, then, asked staff to enrol themselves, while warning that any staff who failed to partake in the exercise would be considered an illegitimate officer of the council.
