Kwara: We’ve exhausted 2022 hajj slots

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (KWMPWB) has exhausted its Hajj slots for this year.

Executive Secretary of the board, Barr. Abdulganiyu Ahmed has informed newsmen about the development.

It was gathered that the country had got about half of the usual slots of 90,000 from the Saudi Arabian authorities.

The 43,000 slots were distributed among the states, with Kwara getting 1,406 slots.

He said, “1,600 deposited. We got N2.5m. Some paid N1m, N1.2m and 1.3 but immediately we had a meeting with NAHCON, we went on air for our intending pilgrims to top up their payment to be qualified for the exercise.

“Initially the turnout was slow but the last two, three days to the deadline, the turnout was massive and we even instructed our banker to operate on Saturday (May 7) so that people could meet up with the deadline we gave them.”

He however explained that the board has organized enlightenment programme for the intending pilgrims to teach them the do’s and don’ts of the Hajj exercise.
