Kwara sets N8.4m for 2025 hajj fare
In a bid to streamline preparations for the 2025 Hajj, the Kwara State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, while clarifying details about the cost of pilgrimage and the deadline for payment during a live session on Gerin 95.5 FM, recently noted that hajj fares for this year will vary across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones due to differences in travel distances to Saudi Arabia, which directly influence aviation fuel costs.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, while disclosing, said intending pilgrims from Kwara State, which falls under the Northern zone, will pay ₦8,457,685.59.
Alhaji Salman stressed that the disparity reflects logistical realities and ensures equitable cost distribution across the country.

The Board, however, set January 31, 2025, as the final deadline for payments, warning that no extensions will be granted. “We must remit the payments to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on time to meet the deadlines established by the Saudi Hajj Authority,” he said.
“Visa processing will begin on February 25, and any delay in meeting these requirements could jeopardise a pilgrim’s chance to participate.”
In his remarks, the Chief Administrative Officer of the Board, Alhaji Olayinka Shuaib, advised intending pilgrims to complete their payments and submit their international passports promptly to secure their seats.
The Board emphasised that compliance with these timelines is crucial to avoid disruptions in the Hajj preparation process.
