Kwara reiterates commitment to youth development
The Kwara State Government has reiterated its dedication to youth development, focusing on their welfare and safety through effective planning and execution.
During a recent meeting chaired by the Commissioner for Youths Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, key stakeholders, including NYSC officials and government representatives, gathered to explore strategies to enhance corps members’ welfare and operational conditions within the state.
In his address, the Commissioner highlighted the government’s commitment to youth development initiatives, underlining the significance of the youth service program in fostering national unity, promoting personal development, and supporting community service efforts.
The discussion also revolved around enhancing the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, designed to equip corps members with essential skills that promote self-reliance post-service year.
Stakeholders present praised the ongoing support from the State Government. They recommended new policies to improve inter-agency collaboration, ensure the safety of corps members, and maximize the benefits of NYSC community development initiatives.
Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, the State Coordinator and Secretary of the Board expressed gratitude to the State Governor for his commendable contributions to NYSC matters while emphasizing the need for government understanding regarding the maintenance of campgrounds.
He stressed that the success of NYSC in Kwara State relies on collective efforts from government bodies, private sectors, NGOs, and host communities.
“I urge all stakeholders to continue collaborating in providing corps members with meaningful engagements that align with the developmental objectives of Kwara State,” he stated.
