Kwara reaffirms commitment to improving healthcare delivery

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to enhancing healthcare services across the state.

Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the state Commissioner for Health, made this known during a recent courtesy visit from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Implementing Partnership Management (IPM) team associated with the Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health (EU-SARAH) Project.

Dr. El-Imam highlighted the significant achievements in areas such as immunization, nutrition, and health infrastructure, attributing these successes to the steadfast leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

She remarked, “Kwara State is known for thoroughness, and we are ready to collaborate fully with the UNICEF IPM team. We are confident that the knowledge and innovations you bring will benefit us well beyond the EU-SARAH Project, as we aim to transfer these improvements across every aspect of the health sector. We look forward to implementing and enhancing the project’s deliverables.”

In her remarks, Professor Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, expressed her appreciation for UNICEF’s long-term support.

She stated, “The technical assistance, transparent financial processes, and strong monitoring frameworks provided by UNICEF are invaluable to us. This represents a significant opportunity for Kwara and calls on us to further improve our service delivery.”

Speaking on behalf of UNICEF, IPM Team Lead Bushra Baby outlined the team’s objectives to work across the three EU-SARAH implementing states—Kwara, Sokoto, and Adamawa. She emphasized the focus on improving fund management and strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure effective collaboration.
