Kwara Police confirms abduction of 10 persons in Kwara Community attack

The Kwara State Police Command has on Tuesday confirmed a shooting incident and the abduction of 10 residents at Isapa, a community near Obbo-Ile in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi,  the incident occurred on Monday evening, 24th November 2025.

The command said it received a distress call at about 6:30 p.m. following sporadic gunfire within the community. Police operatives swiftly mobilized patrol teams and tactical units to the area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that at about 6:05 p.m., a group of armed men suspected to be herders invaded Isapa and began shooting indiscriminately. A woman sustained a gunshot wound to her leg but has since been treated and discharged.

Further assessments by security personnel confirmed that 10 individuals were abducted during the attack.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, visited Isapa for an on-the-spot assessment. He met with community leaders, including the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, and the Olokesa of Okesa Land, Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun, alongside youth and local leaders.

The CP assured residents of intensified efforts to rescue the abductees safely and restore calm to the area.

A coordinated search-and-rescue operation involving police tactical teams and local vigilantes is currently ongoing, with operatives combing surrounding bushes in pursuit of the perpetrators.

The police confirmed that normalcy has been restored in the village and that the situation remains under strict surveillance.

The attack on Isapa comes barely a week after Bandits struck at Eruku Community and abducted 38 worshippers in a Church. All the victims were eventually released on Sunday.

Meanwhile,the Kwara State Government on Tuesday also inaugurated a high level panel to tackle the insecurity challenges in the State. The committee is to be headed by the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi.
