Kwara LG Polls: Gov AbdulRazaq is a dictator, never changes skin – Akogun Oyedepo

…says APC primaries not free and fair

Oyedepo crying wolf because his candidate lost, election c’ttee fires back

Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, has described the state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as a dictator who never changes his skin.

Oyedepo, a prominent figure in Kwara APC, accused Governor AbdulRazaq of maintaining a dictatorial stance despite attempts to portray a democratic image.

In a statement released shortly after the announcement of the Local Government primary results of the party, Oyedepo lambasted the conduct of the elections, alleging widespread irregularities and a lack of transparency.

“The governor has never changed his dictatorial skin,” Oyedepo asserted. “The APC primaries were not free and fair; they were marred by undue influence and manipulation.”

Oyedepo’s remarks were swiftly met with a response from the APC Electoral Committee, which defended the integrity of the electoral process.

In a statement addressing Oyedepo’s claims, Oloriewe Raheem Adedoyin, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee’s Publicity Committee, expressed disappointment with Oyedepo’s comments.

Adedoyin emphasised that while there is room for improvement, the primaries were conducted fairly and reflected the will of the party members.

“The primary elections were conducted in accordance with established party guidelines,” Adedoyin stated. “The outcomes across various local government areas, including Isin, Irepodun, Oke Ero, Ekiti, Oyun, Ifelodun, and Offa, were transparent and reflected the choices made by APC members.”

Furthermore, the committee accused Oyedepo of sour grapes, suggesting that his criticism is as a result of the defeat of his preferred candidate in Isin Local Government.

They argued that such dissenting voices should be channeled through appropriate party channels rather than publicly disparaging the leadership and electoral process.

“The APC remains committed to democratic principles and the sanctity of internal party processes,” Adedoyin affirmed. “While disagreements are inevitable in politics, constructive dialogue and adherence to established procedures are essential.”
