Kwara insecurity: Gunmen kill residents, abduct others in Ifelodun LGA, invade monarch’s palace
Gunmen have once again struck in Sagbe community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing some residents and abducting others during an invasion of the palace of the Onisagbe of Sagbe.
The incident, which happened on Saturday evening, reportedly lasted for hours as the attackers operated without resistance despite repeated distress calls to security operatives.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen stormed the community in large numbers, heading straight to the palace in an attempt to target the monarch or members of his household. However, their mission was unsuccessful.
According to a resident, “They killed some people, abducted others, and moved freely without any intervention. For hours, calls were made to security agencies, but there was no response.”
The number of casualties and abductees could not be immediately confirmed at the time of filing this report.
