Kwara govt warns against using public facilities for trading, threatens sanction
The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Works and Transports, has warned the residents of the state, especially traders in Oja-Oba, Ipata, Mandate, and Oja-Tuntun, against using public facilities for trading.
In a public announcement on Tuesday, the government said it will, subsequently implement strict measures to ensure compliance and prosecute offenders who have turned dumb to this announcement.
The Commissioner of Works and Transport said the state government had invested billions in providing facilities for the easy movements of commuters, adding that the walkways provided are not for trading and loitering but for people to have easy passage.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that the state government had restricted motorcycles, tricycles, commercial vehicles, and heavy-duty vehicles of specific categories from using Ahmadu Bello Way, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The restriction notice was issued on Friday, the 8th of November,2024, by the Ministry of Works and Transport with a directive to Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA) to commence enforcement with immediate effectAhmadu Bello Way is the road network that links to Government House.
