Kwara govt to spend N4bn on renovation of Banquet Hall

…new convention centre, conference centre to gulp N10bn, N7.1bn in 2026

The Kwara State Government has earmarked N4 billion for the rehabilitation and expansion of the state Banquet Hall, according to details contained in official budget documents.

Findings show that the project is listed under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, where it is classified under rehabilitation and expansion works with a total allocation of N4,000,000,000.

Meanwhile, the state has also proposed N10 billion for the construction of a new convention centre.

The project, captured under the Ministry of Business, Innovation, falls within the reform of government and governance category, with a total budgetary provision of N10,000,000,000.

Checks further show that the proposed convention centre is not the only such project being undertaken by the state government.

The document indicates that construction work is already ongoing on the Ilorin Conference Centre, also under the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology.

Records show that a total of N13,825,872,458.54 was spent on the project in 2024, while N2,400,500,000 has been expended in 2025 as of September.

In addition, the state has budgeted N7,100,000,000 for the project in the 2026 fiscal year.
