Kwara govt reaffirms commitment to housing and infrastructure development

The Kwara State Government has pledged to implement a housing policy designed to enhance the lives of all residents, regardless of their social, political, or religious backgrounds.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, at the first quarter 2025 Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Ministry of Finance’s conference room in Ilorin.

During the briefing, Dr. Ogunsola shared updates on various developmental projects spearheaded by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He noted that the current government has made strides in completing projects previously abandoned by past administrations while also initiating several key projects that are at various stages of completion.

Highlighted projects include:

  1. Renovation of the Kwara Hotel complex
  2. Upgrading the Adewole Cottage Hospital
  3. Modernization of the Indoor Sports Hall
  4. Complete renovation of the Kwara Football Academy
  5. Construction of Kwasu campuses in Osi and Ilesha-Baruba
  6. Building of a new ultra-modern Revenue House for the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service
  7. Development of the Ilorin International Conference Center (IICC)
  8. Establishment of the Kwara ICT Hub in Ilorin
  9. Construction of Adeta Model School
  10. Development of an ultra-modern Kwara Court House Complex
  11. Reconstruction of the Kwara State Government House Gate
  12. Establishment of the New Civil Service Hospital
  13. Construction of Flower Garden phase 2
  14. Modernization of the Dada Pottery Industry
  15. Building of the Shonga ICT Hub
  16. Upgrade of the Patigi Regatta Motel, among others.

Dr. Ogunsola emphasized that these significant projects are poised to transform the State’s infrastructure, aesthetics, and revenue opportunities, as recognized by the citizens.

He reiterated that these initiatives reflect Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s campaign slogan, “Ise nlo,” which emphasizes the commitment to bolstering infrastructure in the State.

The Commissioner urged the populace to continue supporting these transformative efforts to ensure they bring substantial benefits to the community, while reaffirming the government’s resolve to position Kwara as a leader in infrastructural development across Nigeria.
