Kwara govt holds NECO floating, sets fee for 2023 registration
The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has held the 2023 floating at St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin, in preparation for the commencement of the 2023 National Examination Council (NECO) registration in the State.
Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, Honourable Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, while expressing her delight to be amongst everyone present at the floating event of the 2023 NECO, said that this year’s NECO registration commenced on Monday, 19th December 2022, and closes on Monday, 23 May, 2023,
Modibo Kawu said that the recommended charge for this year’s NECO is N22,450.00 (Twenty Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty Naira only) per candidate, while urging the principals not to go beyond the approved charge.
Her words “I am delighted to be among you once again for the floating of the year 2023 National Examination Council SSCE (NECO). As you are all aware, this year’s registration commenced on Monday, 19th December 2022, and closes on Monday, 23 May, 2023.
“The recommended charge for this year is N22,450.00 (Twenty Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty Naira only) per candidate,” she said, urging the Principals not to charge above this amount.
“Erring principals caught will be dealt with according to Public Service Rules. As a reminder, merging of schools and repeaters should be channelled through the Director, Curriculum & Assessment. The transfer of any candidate in the final class (SS3) is not allowed. Principals are also advised to release their schools’ email addresses and pin to the café operators assigned to their schools for an hitch-free and prompt completion of registration”, she said.
The commissioner, while appreciating the gesture of the ANCOPSS president and other principals, for their usual cooperation since inception, emphasized on the need to curb examination malpractices amongst students at all levels in the state.
On his part, the Kwara State ANCOPSS President, Comrade HU Abdullahi appreciate the Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for investing in the education sector, while underlying the fact that the educational sector in Kwara State has been working effectively since the appointment of Hajiya Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu as the Commissioner in the sector, which has been characterized by her unflinching leadership over the years.
“Up to this moment, she is always keen to providing solutions to our challenges when we visit her, and she attends to our urgent needs with immediate effect as well”.
He stressed that in 2022 WAEC and NECO Examinations, no rules were violated nor schools were indicted in Kwara State.
Abdullahi commended Examination Section for being very active, while urging the Kwara State Government to expedite action on the monetization of promotion for TESCOM and SUBEB teachers.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State NUT Chairman, Comr. Bashar Oyewo also appreciated the efforts of Kwara State Government on the recently approved 2018 promotion of TESCOM teachers, while urging the government to fix the issue of disparity of salaries of SUBEB teachers.
