Kwara govt dissolves Transition Committees of 16 LGAs ahead of Sept 21 polls

The Kwara State Government has announced the dissolution of the Transition Implementation Committees (TICs) earlier appointed to manage the councils pending new local government elections, thereby directing the Directors of Personnel Management (DPM) to take charge of the administration of the 16 local government areas of Kwara State until a new election is held in September.

The Informant247 reports that the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC)had on Thursday, May 16, 2024, announced that the commission had scheduled September 21, 2024, for the local government election across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state

The state election umpire made this known in a statement by its chairman, Okanla Baba.

Mrs Modupe Iyabo Adekeye, the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, while disclosing this in a statement on Friday, said the dissolution is with immediate effect.
