Kwara govt commends Ilorin West LG boss over developmental projects
The Kwara State Government has commended the Executive Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government Area, Hon. Shehu Abdulrahman Ladan, for what it described as visionary leadership and sustained commitment to grassroots development.
The commendation was given during the commissioning of several projects executed by the council across different communities in the local government area.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said the projects were impactful and people-oriented.
He said, “The chairman has demonstrated visionary leadership through the execution of projects that have direct impact on the lives of the people.”
Bata listed some of the projects to include the procurement and installation of 300KVA transformers in Aleniboro Wara community, Soto community in Ubandawaki area, and Itakudimo community, noting that they were aimed at improving electricity supply and boosting socio-economic activities.
He also commissioned a newly constructed Civil Defence office at Eruda community and a new Odo-Okun Primary Health Centre, which he said would improve access to healthcare services.
The commissioner further inspected ongoing and completed infrastructural projects, including box culverts with drainage systems at Mosadoluwa community along the Airport area and Osere community, describing them as critical interventions to address flooding and improve road access.
He said, “Since the inception of the current administration in Ilorin West Local Government, I have lost count of the number of intervention projects I have inspected and commissioned.”
Bata added that the projects complement the developmental agenda of the state government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who also chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
He urged residents of the benefiting communities to protect the facilities against vandalism and make good use of them.
In his remarks, Hon. Ladan expressed appreciation to the state government and the commissioner for their support.
He said the projects were delivered in line with his campaign promises to the people of Ilorin West.
“We are committed to fulfilling the promises made to our people. These projects reflect our priority for community development,” Ladan said.
The chairman also assured residents that pending requests from other communities would be addressed as resources permit, adding that ongoing projects were carefully selected based on available funding.
He further pledged that no project under his administration would be abandoned before the end of his tenure.
The commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Iyabo Modupe Adekeye, and the Director of Local Government Affairs, Mrs. Akande Christiana, among other officials.
The council chairman was joined by the vice chairperson, the leader of the legislative council, councillors, and senior local government officials led by the Director of Personnel Management.
